Corrections & Updates
We get things wrong, and when we do, we fix them in the open. This is a running record of corrections and substantive revisions to the collection.
Why this page exists
A reading guide is only as trustworthy as its willingness to be corrected. Rather than quietly editing mistakes away, we log them here — what was wrong, and what we changed. If you've spotted something we should add to this list, please tell us via the contact page; corrections from readers are credited where they'd like to be.
The log
Reframed the entry for the war in China as "Japan Invades China," centred on the 1937 invasion and the Nanking Massacre, to read as a discrete event within the timeline rather than an open-ended theatre. The wider 1937–45 figures remain in the entry text.
Adjusted how books attach to events so that broad single-volume surveys no longer crowd out the focused accounts on individual event pages. Sweeping histories now surface in the reading lists rather than against every battle they happen to mention.
Published our editorial criteria and rating scale openly, so readers can weigh our judgements rather than take them on trust.
